Falklands 40

Remembering the sacrifices made by the soldiers, sailors and aviators who fought to liberate the Falkland Islands following an Argentinian invasion in 1982.

This year SSAFA joins the wider Armed Forces community, and the entire country, in remembering and commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Falklands War.

“Protecting its peoples from aggression is one of the prime responsibilities of any nation. The United Kingdom was required to fulfil that obligation when forced to liberate the Falkland Islands in 1982. Having ensured the population could continue to live in freedom, we remember the 255 British military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice and the many others who were wounded 40 years ago.

"We were there for these who liberated the Falkland Islands 40 years ago, we are there for them now and SSAFA will be there to support them into the future.”

 - Lt General Sir Andrew Gregory, CEO at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity

SSAFA supported the serving personnel and their families who were part of the Falklands Taskforce back in 1982 and has supported those affected by the conflict to this day. Join us to commemorate and celebrate the incredible members of the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force who fought for the freedom of those British Subjects in the South Atlantic.

It is only with your support SSAFA can continue its work to help those in the Armed Forces community who need it most.
