It’s time to vote for Glasgow’s Helping Heroes

22 October 2024

Glasgow’s Helping Heroes (GHH) is a partnership between Glasgow City Council and SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity to help those who are serving or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families – and it’s in the running for a major award.

GHH is shortlisted in the Champion Team of the Year category of the Glasgow Times Community Champion Awards 2024, but voting for this honour closes on Wednesday October 30, so it’s time to cast your vote to give this vital service the best chance of winning and to recognise the outstanding work it does.

GHH’s work includes:

  • Raising awareness and understanding of issues affecting service personnel, veterans, their families, and carers across mainstream financial, housing and employability services in Glasgow.
  • Improving the overall health, well-being, and social inclusion of service personnel, veterans, their families, and carers living in Glasgow.
  • Identifying and addressing gaps in provision for service personnel, veterans, their families, and carers.

Ryan MacDonald – the Operations Manager of Glasgow’s Helping Heroes – said: “We really are delighted to have been shortlisted for the Glasgow Times Champion Team of the Year Award. Our team is incredibly proud and privileged to be able to support those who are serving or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families in the Glasgow area.

It really is a vote of confidence for this work to be recognised by the team at Glasgow Times, especially with so many other incredible teams working throughout the city.

Voting is simple and free. Just search for Glasgow Community Champion Awards 2024 or click here. GHH is listed in the “south” area. You can also show your support on social media by using #GlasgowChamps in posts you make in support of Glasgow’s Helping Heroes and when you have voted for it.
